Our Team

Ashlin Daly: President

Ashlin is a fifth-year student in the history honours program with a minor in anthropology. Having served as Secretary on last year’s UMHiSA exec team, she is thrilled to be taking up the mantle of President this year! You can also find her on the ASBC exec team as Director of Academic Programming. She’s so happy to be working with this new team, and is most excited about all the fun events they have in the works. As President, Ashlin’s mission is to sign up as many new members as possible so that the history community at U of M continues to develop meaningful social and academic relationships between peers. When she gets a break from school, Ashlin enjoys making art, sewing, and reading – but mostly watching lots of movies and TV!

You can contact Ashlin directly by reaching her at dalya1@myumanitoba.ca.

Michael Lacsado: Vice-President

Michael (he/him) is entering his 5th and final year of his history honours degree. He is excited to take on the role of Vice President for UMHiSA for this school year. He's had the opportunity to take on the role of Events Chair last year and has had a great time making friends, planning fun events, and connecting with the vibrant history community at the UofM. He hopes to continue that momentum for the upcoming school year by assisting and supporting team members as the VP. Michael is usually found studying in one of his listed study spots on campus. Feel free to say hi if you see him roaming the tunnels. After his undergraduate degree, he hopes to continue towards a degree in education and further pursue history teaching.

Halle Pemkowski: Event Chair

Halle is heading into her 4th year of her Honours History degree. As the new UMHiSA Events Chair, she is looking forward to organizing fun and exciting events where the UMHiSA community can connect with likeminded history lovers. Halle hopes that UMHiSA events will bring new membership and showcase all the exciting things the U of M History Department has to offer. A work/life balance is the key to success, so Halle hopes that events such as game nights, outings, presentations and the classic pizza lunch will be just what students need to relax and have fun during busy campus life. Halle is most likely to be spotted in the bottom level of Dafoe or running through the tunnels to her classes across campus. If you catch her, don’t be afraid to share your favourite history fact (especially if it’s about the Middle Ages or pirates!)

You can contact Halle directly by emailing her at pemkowsh@myumanitoba.ca.
